Transparent monthly data is the engine of change, not the byproduct.
technique — attributed to Edie Fraser
WBC publishes a monthly report on every woman joining a public board, by name, with the company involved. The report has driven real movement. Over fifteen months, an average of forty-three percent of new public-board members were women, a third of them women of color. That is double the rate of three years earlier. The report is the mechanism, not a summary of it. Companies that join the report are recognized publicly. Companies that do not are visible by their absence. Fraser treats transparency as a tool with teeth: data that lives in a closed drawer changes nothing, and data that arrives in inboxes monthly changes behavior.
For advocacy organizations, industry coalitions, and any movement seeking to shift institutional behavior at scale. The discipline requires consistent monthly publication, not occasional reports.
