Overhead lighting is emotional sabotage
observation — attributed to Holly Peterson
Ceiling glare flattens faces, hardens shadows, and tells guests the room is a venue. Lateral light from side lamps and candles flatters, softens, and tells guests they are at home. The light is not decoration. It governs how the room feels about itself, and that governs everything that happens inside it.
Overhead lighting is emotional sabotage.
