Study, explore, execute.
technique — attributed to Julius Solaris
Solaris's method for catching every social-media wave has been three verbs, identical across two decades. Study each new wave longer than most operators do, with the attention of someone who reads instead of skims. Explore by building inside it, in public, with small experiments anyone can watch and most do not. Execute at scale, weekly, until the audience is too large to ignore. The waves change. The method does not. Blog in 2007. Twitter in 2008. LinkedIn groups in the late 2000s. Virtual events when COVID arrived. Substack newsletters before the model was obvious. AI on the Anthropic stack starting in 2024, three years before the industry caught up.
For independent publishers, founders, and operators thinking about how to position ahead of platform shifts. The technique is most useful as a corrective when teams are either jumping to execution without study or studying without ever shipping.
