You're not designing space. You're designing behavior.
principle — attributed to Iain Morrison
Where attendees stop, gather, hesitate, or leave is not random. The spatial design produced those behaviors, whether the designer intended them or not. The discipline is to model the behavior in advance and design the space to produce it. Floor plans that ignore the human flow they will create are floor plans that abdicate the actual design responsibility.
Useful for any planner whose floor plans default to vendor logic rather than attendee experience.
