Make the remote participant feel as special as the in-room one.
technique — attributed to Steven Clemons
Clemons's hybrid-event challenge is that humans are wired to attend to the eyeballs in the room and to neglect the screens. His counter is to get video clips of remote-participant questions on their phones, play them on the room's screen, and have the senator respond to the person in real time. The remote audience sees themselves treated as primary participants rather than as eavesdroppers.
For moderators and producers of hybrid events with significant remote audiences.
