Seven intentions guide the design.
technique — attributed to Tahira Endean
Endean's sequence of intentions covers the full design surface. One: people-centric, purpose-driven design. Two: integrating and embracing technology. Three: designing for the optimal brain experience. Four: optimizing learning and performance. Five: space flow and seating design. Six: five-senses design. Seven: wellness for participants, the team, and the designer themselves. The seven function as a checklist. Teams that have addressed all seven produce events that feel coherent. Teams that have addressed two or three produce events that feel undercooked in the unaddressed dimensions. The seventh (wellness for the designer themselves) is the one most often skipped, and the one that determines whether the team can keep producing.
For event designers, conference programmers, and agency leads thinking about whether their design process covers the full surface. The framework is most useful as a self-audit before lock-in.
